The game will release on Januon PC, Xbox One, Nintendo Switch, and Playstation 4. The developers at JanduSoft S.L and Grimorio of Games also stated: “Releasing in January 2021 allows to refine the game… and also avoid the craziness of the next-gen consoles launch window.” One of the biggest issues hitting all releases is optimization for next-gen. They would like the game to be as ideal as possible.Īs much as we want to get Sword of the Necromancer into the hands of players, it is more important that the game meets our vision first.” Developers have stated this will allow them to truly refine the rough edges before it hits the market. Instead of the projected December release, the game will now be out on January 28, 2021. Many are looking forward to the game, but the developers have chosen to delay the release by a month.
Sword of the Necromancer’s New Release Date As you delve deeper into the dungeon, you can weave together more of the story of Tama and Koko. You won’t have the weapons/armor or monsters you collect, but you’ll be that much closer. Instead of starting at the beginning, where you die is where you’ll respawn. While dying may not feel good, there’s no need to worry. Make them do your bidding to attain your goal. You can bring back the people you take out. In fact, Sword of the Necromancer lets you summon defeated enemies. Don’t worry about having to take on enemies solo. In order to bring his princess Koko back to life, he must wield the power of necromancy. And while that sounds difficult, he’s got the power of necromancy at his side. The mechanic of reviving enemies to fight for you is a great concept.

– Level up: enhance your character by fighting enemies and upgrade your stats.– Fight with all your might: defeat your enemies using a variety of weapons and objects and dominating the fluid head-to-head battle system.– Gather weapons and relics: each weapon is different from the others thanks to the procedural weapon generation system, which gives them various effects and attributes.– Turn your foes into allies: use the Sword of the Necromancer to revive defeated monsters and make them fight alongside you.
We’re not wholly taken with the art style of the dungeons themselves, but these intermediary story bits don’t half look great. You learn more about Koko and the Sword of the Necromancer in and between your dungeon-runs, and it looks like a lot of the story is delivered in gorgeous anime. It’s co-op, thanks to a Flask of the Homunculus that lets you duplicate the main character, which is a welcome addition, while there’s more story than you’d expect from a rogue-lite game. The combat, too, looks more action-RPG oriented than the Legend of Zelda-stylings might indicate, so there might be a bit of twitchy gameplay to this one. With an intricate progression system that gifts you varying perks, this is going to be a wet dream for strategists and loadout junkies. Not only do you get to tinker with monsters, but there’s a full-blown procedural weapon generation system, so you get to min-max that too. Then there’s the sheer depth of the whole thing. We’re not yet sure whether the bosses can be enlisted in this way. That’s kind of awesome, as traversing the dungeon becomes a kind of window-shopping, as you’re looking for enemies who might work better on your side. It might be because of the necromancy leanings: you can tame and ally with any of the monsters that you come across in the dungeon, thanks to your natty Sword of the Necromancer, and those allies can be levelled up further as you play.
